Getting to Oxford

Air

International participants flying into Heathrow or Gatwick should board an Airline coach provided by the Oxford Bus Company. These distinctive blue vehicles run a regular service from the Heathrow Central Bus Station (Bay 14a) and Terminal 5 (Bay 11), with a journey time to Oxford City Centre of c.90 minutes. A period return ticket costs £25; these can either be booked in advance or purchased (cash only) from the driver on the day. Buses also depart regularly from the South (Stand 18) and North (Bay 4) Terminals of Gatwick airport, with a journey time of c.150 minutes, where a period return ticket costs £32. On arrival in Oxford from either of these services, get off at the final stop, Gloucester Green bus station on George Street, which is a 10-minute walk from the College (see the map below). Birmingham International, Stansted, and Luton airports have less frequent coach and/or rail connections with Oxford.

Rail and Coach

There are frequent direct trains to Oxford station from London Paddington and regular links northwards via Birmingham, southwards via Reading, and westwards via Didcot. Timetables, connections, and fares are available from National Rail. The station is a 15-minute walk from St Anne’s (see the map below), but there is also a taxi rank at the station recommended for participants with luggage.

Green, Oxford-bound Espress Buses also run very frequent services from several locations in central London, as does the red Oxford Tube. A less frequent service connects with Birmingham International Airport. There are connections with many other parts of the country, including a direct service to Cambridge. On arrival in Oxford from any of these services, get off at the final stop, Gloucester Green bus station on George Street, which is a 10-minute walk from the College (see the map below).
